Pelion mountain above Kissos

Travel arrangements

Your journey to Pelion is a matter of personal preference. It is because the region is comparatively remote that it retains its peace and charm.

Flying direct to Volos

Volos Airport at Nea Anchialos is served by a number of flights, April/ May to October.
Recent changes have resulted in reduced/revised services, 2017 schedules not yet confirmed.

  • Monarch  - from Gatwick and Manchester. Service operated by subsidiary charter companies: search for these flights via Skiathos
  • AirBerlin (Flyniki) - from Nuremberg
  • Transavia - (on charter to Ross Holidays) from Amsterdam

Volos Airport is 30 minutes to the west of the city, close to the main Thessaloniki-Athens highway.

AirBerlin flights benefit from a dedicated bus link to Volos city centre. Car Hire is available at the airport.

For over ten years, an Englishman named Mark has been scouting in the region for places and sites forgotten by locals. He knows every mountain, river and hideout like the back of his hand and finds the area highly inspiring...
